There is a job like that!

Prisoner! Who knows that it's also a Job??? I did, and  ever was surprised!
Convicted of armed robbery, Carl was sent to jail and got a new job rather than the previous one at a convenience store - a PRISONER!!!

Why? Just because prison is a society with its own citizens, cultures and jobs. In prison, Carl is a cook. And he loves it. Working as a cook in jail helps him make most of his meals, passes the time, keeps him out of trouble, away from a lot of "fucking people" here. His in-jail society includes all kinds of people: gang bangers, black or white, crazy or caring, behaving like animals or gentle,... Carl has to fight, a lot of times, to live a life here. Everybody has to fight for his life in our world, so does Carl. He is living and doing a job!!!

Carl gets his own dreams, too. He dreams about his wife and kids all the time, dreams about being with his family and never wants to wake up to see himself in jail again.

Carl committed a robbery with a wish to change his life, to give his family, his wife and kids, a better life in a society. Then he was sent to another society as a punishment - jail. And right in this new society, he thinks about good things, and dreams nice dreams. There is a contradiction here! In a "Good society" (as we all suppose ours), Carl is a robber - a bad man, while in the "Society of bad men" (Jail), Carl is a humane person. I just wonder whether our concept of Good society is troubling and whether our society is really a good one or conversely...

I like this entry in Gig cuz it sent me a different message from other ones. People only say about their job, proud or not, convenient or uncomfortable, strict or easy boss, high or low salary, money and money... Carl talks about his job but it seems that he is talking about the society he is in and the regretful life of him. People work for salary, he works to avoid trouble, avoid fighting with other prisoners and to keep him away from evil - He works to live a simple life just to wait for release!

I saw Carl and saw another America. The interview - Carl's story - reveals the back side of a shining, luxurious and proud America but also reveals the good side of a prisoner!!! That's invaluable values ever! A job can help a person to go back to his innocent soul!

It is such a job, yes, a Prisoner!
